Lots of us are affected by these things. We all handle them differently. Some people need medication to help them and they should not feel bad about this. Many things can cause anxiety and depression including a chemical imbalance in our bodies. Someone once told me that if you are a diabetic you must take insulin to feel better. This is no different. The medications out there help you live your life in a better way.
Having someone to talk to when you are suffering is always helpful. Being able to talk to someone that has had anxiety and depression helps because they understand what you are going through. You are shown that you are not alone and you are cared for at all times. Here at Pella we are hosting two different Anxiety/Depression Support Groups. The groups are Peer to Peer so your facilitators are people who have gone through what you are going through (not professional counselors). The Adult group meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:00 p.m. The East door is open on these nights. It is a confidential and relaxed group atmosphere. The Teen group "Snacks and Chats" meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the basement. (Ages 13-19 years) Both of these groups are not church related activities and they are open to anyone. We welcome you to come and join the group of your choice. If you have any questions, please give the office a call at 433-3350. |
